El dueto protagonizado por Stevie Wonder y el ex Beatle, Paul McCartney se colocó en lo más alto en las listas de ventas americanas. Fue el comienzo de una estancia de ocho semanas en el puesto rey de Billboard.

El tema fue el vigésimo cuarto nº 1 americano para Paul Mc Cartney como compositor, y llegó también a ser nº 1 en Reino Unido.

La canción que le precedió en la lista Billboard (la más importante de Estados Unidos), fue "Chariots of fire" de Vangelis y la que le sucedió "Don't You Want Me" de Human League.
